Animal & Plant Habitats

We have been learning about animal and plant habitats in nature here in Second Class. We are so lucky that our school has a whole biodiversity garden, a field with horses to look at and many trees and hedges to investigate for evidence of plant and animal life in their habitats. We are now starting to learn about ponds, wall cracks and other habitats that creatures like to live in. A plant or animal needs food, shelter and a place to raise babies in their habitat for it to be a right fit. We have also been learning about how some habitats are lost because of the building of roads, houses and other things. There are ways we can help, like building bird feeders, having a wildflower patch in our gardens or leaving logs where they are.
